Seeds planted on 1st of March, 2021. The first sign of germination was on the 24th of March. Asparagus can take anywhere between 14 to 30 days and more to germinate
depending on how old and viable the seeds are.
Asparagus plants can quickly become root-bound and stunt or slow
their growth and although they can tolerate compact containers for
optimal growth this would be a good time to transfer them into a larger
container to keep the growing process moving along.
Asparagus prefers well-drained soil with a ph between 6.5 and
7.0, also asparagus plants need 1 to 2 inches of watering per week. But what you should consider is that asparagus is a perennial vegetable, which means once you plant
it will die back during the winter and come back just before spring
in the next year a definite good reason to start planting your
seeds.
Does asparagus regrow after cutting? The answer is yes because perennial plants return year after year. Asparagus is a somewhat heavy feeder and needs all the food
that it can get in order to build strong spears the following
year.
